Concept and realization for “Hier im Quartier“ an urban culture project by Kulturzentrum Schlachthof Kassel, in cooperation with the youth office Kassel, child and youth development and youth centre Nord-Holland.

This year everything is different: Instead of being outside, we are at home a lot and we’re not allowed to hug our friends. How we feel, what our everyday life at home is like and what’s strange to us in the neighbourhood – that’s what we want to photograph and show in a large window exhibition in the North Holland district.

The exhibition and publication DRINNEN DRAUSSEN show photographs taken during a workshop for and with young people from the North Holland Youth Centre. For three weeks during the summer vacations the participants experimented with the medium of photography, creating images that document their everyday lives in their neighbourhood under pandemic restrictions. The photos were presented in public in a shop window exhibition at nine locations in Nord Holland.

„Hier im Quartier” is funded by the program "Utopolis - socioculture in the neighborhood" as part of the interdepartmental strategy "Strengthening Socially Integrative City neighborhoods, communal living in the neighborhood" of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, for Building and Home and the Commission for Culture and the Media.

Dieses Jahr ist alles anders: Statt draußen zu sein, sind wir viel drinnen und die Freunde sollen wir nicht umarmen. Wie es uns dabei geht, wie der Alltag drinnen so aussieht und was uns draußen alles komisch vorkommt, das wollen wir fotografieren und zeigen, in einer großen Schaufensterausstellung im Stadtteil Nordholland.

Die Ausstellung und Publikation DRINNEN DRAUSSEN zeigt Fotografien, die während des gleichnamigen Workshops, gemeinsam mit Jugendlichen des Jugendzentrums Nord-Holland entstanden sind. Drei Wochen während der Sommerferien experimentierten Jugendliche mit dem Medium Fotografie, woraus Bilder entstanden sind, die ihren durch die Corona-Pandemie eingeschränkten Alltag und den Stadtteil Nord-Holland dokumentieren. Die Fotos wurden in einer Schaufenster-Ausstellung an neun Orten öffentlich im Stadtteil präsentiert.

„Hier im Quartier” wird gefördert über das Modellprogramm „Utopolis – Soziokultur im Quartier” im Rahmen der ressortübergreifenden Strategie „Soziale Stadt Nachbarschaften stärken, Miteinander im Quartier” des Bundesministeriums des Innern, für Bau und Heimat und der Beauftragten für Kultur und Medien.
